Why me?

Life is full of opportunities to re-evaluate--ourselves, situations, relationships...
One potential limitation that can happen is through making judgments. We can judge our performance, feelings, capability, worthiness or that of others. We may even judge life, G-d, whether or not something is fair or even possible.
Henry Ford said: "If you believe you can, or you believe you can't, you're right." The same wisdom is mirrored in many other places. One is in the work on Epigenetics by Dr. Bruce Lipton, author of The Biology of Belief, Unleashing the Power of the Subconscious Mind, and several other works. He shows that it isn't our genes that control our health, rather our beliefs and emotions that control our genes. It is also mirrored in the work of Michael J. Lincoln, PhD, who is quoted on this site (see Why Body Code & Irlen?).
The bottom line is that virtually every day, and even many, many times a day, we reinforce or make judgments which limit us.  They operate beneath the surface, often leaving vague impressions or tinging our experiences in subtle ways.
I noticed just such an effect  recently on my visit to one of my children in another country.  I spent wonderful time with a dear grandson who had a very rough start in life. As a result, he was angry, rebellious, duplicitous and not at all engaging in deep relationships.
While my opportunities to engage with him were greatly curtailed for a long time, I did have the opportunity to have him work a few times with one of my teachers during a brief period.  In the short term, little changed. He was polite, but not really trusting or attached.
Then, a couple of years ago, when I was being certified in the Body Code, he gave me permission to work on him as one of the people whose sessions I submitted.  He told me what he wanted me to focus on. During the sessions many, many emotions came up--often inherited--and were released.
Gradually, he started to shift. He became more open to his father, even expressing positive emotions. In the past two years, their relationship has blossomed and he has become sincerely engaging, trusting and attached. He has started on a very positive life path, succeeding and excelling in ways never dreamed possible, and is positively charming and delightful to be with. We stayed together during my visit and enjoyed some day trips together, just the two of us. Every minute was wonderful!
What happened to allow such a totally fantastic transformation? He no longer had the negative beliefs about himself, his family or life which had plagued him (with good reason) earlier. This allowed his spirit to flourish and his great goodness and potential to take the lead.
Although I have many, many wonderful stories about people with whom I have worked, this one is the closest to my heart, and I thank you for letting me share it with you.
What would you like to have change? Why wait--you'll never get the same time back to do it again.
Imagine what life might be like believing you CAN!
