Underachieving, Low Self-Esteem, Depression, Moodiness, Acting out and even Dropping out & worse may be the result of undiagnosed Irlen Syndrome
UnderachievingThose with Irlen Syndrome often have difficulty achieving goals or finishing tasks and may be told they need to "try harder", even though they are trying their best. (See Reading Problems)

Low Self-esteemWhen best efforts are not successful or recognized and outcomes are poor, frustration often results and self-esteem may be affected.
|
Depression-MoodinessMoodiness and depression are possible outgrowth of underachieving and the resulting low self-esteem.

Acting out, dropping out and worse
Many underachievers ultimately give up hope and go down the path of acting out or rebelling, getting involved with others in a similar situation and even dropping out of school.
